The Christian Public Servant – “the gifts God bestows”

August 14, 2017 – Monday

Galatians 3:28 [NIV] here is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

The great part about being a Christian public servant is that we encounter so many of God’s children. All have different backgrounds, talents, ideas, and opinions. Each contributes with the gifts God bestows on him or her.

With such diverse personalities assigned to the same projects, sometimes tensions can exist. Sure, there’s going to be disagreements on how to complete the project. But with our separate ideas and opinions, we can come together and make compromises, creating better plans as a team to improve our community. The Christian public servant plays a key role in this aspect. After all, is that not one of the gifts God bestows on us?

God’s plan calls for you to work with others and make great things happen – no matter the differences among coworkers. Your task is to be the light shining in the dark areas of disagreement. You can bring harmony into the workplace.

Today, as you leave for work, say a little prayer for the Holy Spirit’s assistance in preparing you for the stresses that will arise. Remember, God put others in your path to help you and for you to help. Also remember, the Creator made you unique – unique with the gifts God bestows.

Now, go share your gifts and make the workday a little brighter!

Father God, thank You for yet another day to serve You and my community. Please watch over me and help me think more clearly through my daily stresses. Remind me to be open to new ideas and opinions – the gifts You bestow in others – so I may make my workplace more harmonious. I ask this in Your Son’s name. Amen.
