The Christian Public Servant – “seeing what God is doing”

God is doing in me1

October 6, 2017 – Friday

Reading
Luke 10:41-42 [NKJV] And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.

Reflection
One day a brother confronted me about how I was ministering to someone else here on Life Row. We sat down, and I listened to his concerns. When he finished, I explained what I was doing. It was clear this brother did not know what God was doing in me, and what path He was directing me to follow. Like Martha, he didn’t understand – so he just made a quick judgment.

There’s a lesson here for all of us.

When you see someone doing something differently, do not make a quick judgment. Instead, focus on seeing what God is doing in that person, rather than speculating about what you don’t understand. He may be messing up but, then again, he may be following God.

And how about where you work? Have you been making quick judgments about a coworker or supervisor? If so, stop it! Just be patient and focus on seeing what God is doing – in yourself and that other person.

And if you do this, like Mary, you will not be worried nor troubled throughout the day!

Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray. Help me to keep focused on what You want in me so I can help advance Your kingdom. Give me patience to see what You want in others, so I do not get in Your way. Amen.
