The Christian Public Servant – “Jesus’ love flowing over”

December 1, 2017 – Friday

Luke 7:47 [NLT] I tell you, her sins—and they are many—have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.

When I am in my cell, I think about how much Jesus has forgiven me – ME! – forgiven me for everything I did before coming here, and everything I have done since being here. Yet, even though He has forgiven me – and with Jesus’ love flowing over me – I still have trouble forgiving others. I find myself holding others to a different standard than what He holds me.

Then one day, God had a job for me. He called me to witness to two brothers I swore I would never forgive. I struggled to pretend not to hear my Lord, but His voice rang deep in my heart. So, I obeyed Him and went to minister to these two brothers.

And then it hit me: I was storing up the love that comes with forgiveness from Him, but I wasn’t sharing it. On that day, I forgave those two brothers and found even more of Jesus’ love flowing over me and the two brothers also felt Jesus’ love flowing over them. At that point, for all three of us, death row turned into Life Row – for the life of Christ is here and His love abounds!

Today at your job, let Jesus stir your heart to forgive – no less than His heart has forgiven you. Your boss. That coworker. The security officer in the lobby. The clerk at the convenient store who always takes her time when you are trying to buy your coffee and get to work.

Today, forgive that person. And you will feel even more of Jesus’ love flowing over everyone!

Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray. Give me grace to forgive everything in others, just like you forgive everything in me. Let the love of Your Son flow over all who forgive. Amen.
