The Christian Public Servant – “words and actions pleasing to God”

please God1

January 5, 2018 – Friday

Reading

Acts 28:6 [NLT] The people waited for him to swell up or suddenly drop dead. But when they had waited a long time and saw that he wasn’t harmed, they changed their minds and decided he was a god.

Reflection

God places me in a position to be in contact with a lot of people. Brothers on death row. Correctional officers who will someday be part of my execution team. Free-world visitors. You who read my devotionals each week.

Some people believe I am a man of God, but some doubt. Some people believe Jesus is using me, and yet some doubt. Some people respect and honor who I have become in Christ Jesus, and still some doubt.

It doesn’t matter. My focus is to please God, not the doubters.

All followers of Christ encounter doubters who do not see us as stewards of Jesus. Is this not true where you live and work? It is for me.

Our response to the doubters should not be about changing their minds. Our response to them must be words and actions pleasing to God. If we please God, then He will change their hearts.

At work today, please join me in finding ways to respond to the doubters with words and actions pleasing to God. He will take care of the rest.

Prayer

Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray. Thank You for giving me a heart to please You – even when I am wronged or judged harshly. Amen.
