The Christian Public Servant – “His purpose will prevail in your career”

January 10, 2018 – Wednesday

Reading

Ecclesiastes 9:10(a) [NIV] Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might

Proverbs 19:21 [NIV] Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails

Reflection

Every now and then I wonder: have I made the right decision about my career path? Are social services where I am supposed to be? I’m particularly anxious because I’m over 50, and I fear no employer will be interested in someone my age. This thought terrifies me.

Do you wonder and fear the same?

Well, scripture reminds us that He has a purpose for you and me. His purpose may not match the one in our hearts. However, His purpose will prevail in your career – as it will in mine.

So, don’t lose faith and start worrying. Just pray and follow Him down the career path in which He needs you. Then age, or anything else, will not matter.

Today make sure what is in your heart matches what is in His need. Have faith that His purpose will prevail in your career. And start planning to serve Him mightily!
.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, please take all anxiety and fear out of my heart. Help me put trust and faith in You. Lead and guide me down the career path where You need me. And I will serve mightily! In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
