The Christian Public Servant – “prepared like the wise”

Readings

Matthew 25:3-4 [NKJV] Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

Reflection

During my journey as a Christian public servant, Jesus has been preparing me for a lot. How to love like Him. How to be patient. How to listen. How to be merciful and gracious. How to see others like He does. But most importantly, He prepares me to be ready so He can use me. He prepares me to help the foolish who have missed the sight of Him.

You see, scripture teaches that the foolish virgins just did enough until the bridegroom showed up. Then they needed help from the wise who were prepared for the entire night.

As you start this workday, you need to be prepared like the wise. Do more than just enough – the foolish ones are already doing just enough. You must be ready to help others who do not come prepared for His day. The foolish who have missed the sight of Jesus.

Today at work, be prepared like the wise and open the eyes of those who don’t see Jesus. You are His vessel. You are His oil. You are His lamp. Be prepared like the wise – day and night.

Prayer

Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray. Thank You for continually preparing me so I can carry out Your will – today, tomorrow, and regardless of circumstance. Amen.
