2 Corinthians 7:6 [NLT] But God, who encourages those who are discouraged, encouraged us by the arrival of Titus.
Before my conviction and arrival on Death Row, the only one I comforted was me. Taking care of my business. Doing what pleased me. And after I was sentenced here, I still comforted only me. But then I met God, and it seems my job now is to do nothing but follow Him and comfort others. Through our Life Row church, ministering to the brothers and some correctional officers, and writing to you – I have grown to love communicating with others because of my communication with my Heavenly Father.
Scripture teaches us to comfort others who are discouraged. The Word also promises that brothers and sisters will arrive, when we need them, to comfort us. Titus had the spirit to comfort, and this meant he gave of himself and invested in others.
Where you work, there must be a lot of people. Some are discouraged and some may even be cast out. Even those who appear OK have something going on that’s not right. A lot of people need comforting.
Today at work, be like Titus. Remember, it is not what you get but what you give. Like Titus, follow God to those who need help and encouragement.
Today, comfort others.
Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray. Thank You for sending others to comfort me. Thank You for sending me to comfort others. Through Your comfort, Your kingdom is advanced. Amen.
