Reading

Proverbs 11:125 [MSG] The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped.

Genesis 2:18 [NIV] The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”

Reflection

It’s really something to suddenly realize God is blessing you through someone close to you. Last week, on a very busy workday, it happened to me.

In the middle of a stressful project, the nurse at my son’s school called about him not feeling well. I needed to pick him up. (I was contacted because my wife could not be reached at first.) However, my wife arrived at the school when I did, and together we had the opportunity to take our son to the pediatrician. We actually had fun in the waiting room, talking and making our son laugh, and I relaxed from the stress of that work project. As we entered the examination room, God whispered, “I am blessing you through someone close to you!

When I returned to work, I realized God had not only blessed me with a loving wife – He blessed me with coworkers who completed the task I was working on!

Today at work, look around. You, too, are being blessed by someone close to you. That family photo on your desk. That unexpected phone call. The coworkers who look out for you.

As the week begins, see who you can thank for being a blessing in your workday.

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank You for Your provisions and all You do for me. Thank You for those in my life who bless me. Help me be a blessing to them and all whom I meet. As I go to work today, I go with confidence in the assurance that You provide me with those who bless me. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
