Matthew 21:19 [NLT] and he noticed a fig tree beside the road. He went over to see if there were any figs, but there were only leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” And immediately the fig tree withered up.
I’ve heard so many stories about this fig tree, but what I’m about to tell you made me look at how much I truly value Jesus dying for me.
See, every day – whether it is my family, friends, or an officer – people come to me for godly fruit to encourage them. Give them hope. Give them a piece of Jesus to hang on to. But if I’m just pretending to be the fruit tree for Jesus, just going through the motions, then I really don’t value the One I represent. And if I do not value the One who died for me, who am I? Am I not destined to wither up?
Wherever you work, you are the fruit tree – if you work for Christ. Your coworkers, and everyone else, are looking for that godly fruit. You must be real in giving it to them. When you do not value the One you represent, people will end up finding no fruit and you will wither up.
Today, no matter what happens where you work, value the One you represent. Yes, value the One who died for you. And you will always bear godly fruit! And you will never wither up!
Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray. Thank You for all You have done for me through Your Son, Jesus. May I represent Him to the fullest. Amen.
