Matthew 18: 3-4 [ESV] Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Reflection

Last week, I babysat my two young cousins. They’re at that precious age where questions flow like water. Eventually their questions centered on God. They asked me how God rescued Daniel from the Lion’s den. I replied that He sent His angel to protect Daniel. I then asked if they thought Daniel was crazy for doing something that put him in danger. One cousin said quickly, Daniel knew God would protect him. Not to be outdone the other cousin said “I love God, Uncle Brock. I would go in the lion’s den because I love him so much.” Amused, I asked him why he loved God so much. “That’s silly Uncle Brock, because he loves me.”

A child is one of the most amazing gifts in the world. No wonder God expects us to become like children. He wants us to follow Him without question. It may make no sense how God can love and forgive us for everything we do yet, in the eyes of a child, trusting God makes perfect sense – because that’s just the way it is.

At work today, follow Christ with the faith and joy of a child. Do your work with the faith and joy of a child. Work with others with the faith and joy of a child. Engage in the meeting with the faith and joy of a child. Supervise with the faith and joy of a child.

Today, don’t think about letting Christ work through you while you’re at work. Just continue to trust him unquestioningly, and He will do the rest.

In a work-world that tells you to grow up, God tells you to become like a child. So today, walk with the faith and joy of a child, and you will enter the Kingdom of Heaven!

Prayer

Dear Father, thank You so much for Your love and forgiveness. Please help me accept and follow Your truths with the faith and joy of a child. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
