Reading

1 Corinthians 1:18 [NIV] For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Reflection

For a host of reasons, the workplace is a temptation of sin. Everything seems to be on the line, and sometimes it really is on the line. This leads the foolish, who have forgotten the message of the cross, to rebel against God. They foolishly distance themselves from Him by scheming to get ahead. Fudging the facts to better represent themselves. And always reinterpreting (rationalizing) their actions.

Does this ever happen in your workplace? Are you one who forgets the message of the cross?

Scripture reminds us that the foolish are those who are perishing. And the consequences of believing you are “perishing” in the workplace may lead you to actually perish in eternity. God constantly reminds you and me that the only way we can survive – the only way we can be saved in life and safe in job – is through the power of God.

Today at work, grab ahold of God’s power. It is the only way you can be saved in life and safe in job. He promises, you will not perish. And that’s the message of the cross.

Prayer

Father, never let me forget the message of the cross. At work today, let me not be tempted to stray from Your power. In Your Son’s name, I pray. Amen.
