Reading

Philippians 1:27 [NKJV] Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.

John 14:27 [NKJV] Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Reflection

It’s not easy having the job I have because I am the person who people go to with their complaints. I answer testy phone calls from citizens and resolve internal issues among coworkers, and yet I still need to find time to get my “regular” work done. With all the different coworkers and citizens I must interact with each day, it’s a task to keep my stress level down.

Scripture calls us to conduct ourselves in a manner worthy of God. This includes in the workplace. Scripture also promises that, when we are one in Christ, the stress of the workday will evaporate. His peace will come and lighten our load.

So, I try to remember I work with people from all walks of life. In His eyes, we are all equal, and I must take a deep breath and treat everyone in a way that pleases Him and brings peace to me.

While at work today, will your stress level explode? Will you let people get the best of you? Or, will you react to complaints and concerns in a manner worthy of God? If you do, His peace will come your way.

And your heart will surely not be troubled.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for making me Your servant. In my workplace, help me be worthy of You. Let Your love and guidance lower my stress and bring me peace. In Your name, I pray. Amen.
